What you are experiencing is unfortunetely more common than people usually imagine.
I personally had to dress my drunk dad on Christmas and drag him to his chair for dinner, pretending that was normal. That stuff messes up with you big time.

Ah yes, there must be certain parenting lessons hardcoded in our (Eastern European) gene pool: what NOT to do – only some parents forgot about the “not!”I remember how shocked I was to realize shitty parents are universal. But at least you got some cake!
